Microflute describes paper with a visible, open flute on one side. In 1856 microflute was invented and was used as a liner for hats. This is 18 years before corrugated was invented.

Microflute is made from recycled paper into a range with a variety of colours. The amount of post consumer waste paper in the final microflute sheet varies with each colour.
Natural shades are made from 100% waste. Whereas coloured microflute contains 75% recycled content and 25% virgin fibres. This mix is required to hold the bold colours in the dyeing process.

It is possible to produce any style of folder in any size and capacity. The microflute can be used alone or be bonded to a recycled board. Duplexing or joining microflute to another card can create interesting folders in dual colours. The final product can be debossed or foil-blocked with a logo. Screen printing is possible where the ink touches only the raised tips of the flutes creating unusual visuals.
